I find inspiration in landscapes that showcase a region’s unique ecology, particularly in the mountains of Western North Carolina.
- My goal is to capture the essence of the location by finding the shapes, colors, and light that create a cohesive whole. The eye combines these elements into a stylized yet realistic image, leaving space for the viewer’s imagination.
- This approach also applies to my passion for natural science illustration, which is inspired by my organic vegetable garden and the local flora and fauna of the region.
- I have a background in graphic design, illustration, and environmental consulting. After years of using watercolor and colored pencils, I found soft pastels, which I love for their ability to convey my passion for nature with stylized realism.
